How to Get a Motorcycle License

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has different rules to receive a motorcycle license depending on if you have a car license.

1. If you have a car license

• If you possess a New York State Car License (Class A, B, C, D, E or DJ), International License, Out-Of-State License, or a Conditional License

2. If you do not have a car license

• If you possess a Motorcycle Permit, or a New York State Non-Driver Identification Card (NDID)
