MSF Basic RiderCourse

Students who successfully complete this 18-hour course will receive the DMV Road Test Waiver! This class consists of a 3-hour online eCourse, 5 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of practical training on a motorcycle or scooter which includes learning skills such as straight-line riding, stopping, shifting, turning, swerving and emergency braking. We provide everything that you will need to take the course - from motorcycles/scooters to helmets! Students must have a valid NYS Driver's License and NYS Motorcycle Permit at the time of waiver redemption (permit test may be taken after the course completion). Additionally, be sure to check with your insurance company as you may be eligible for discounts as a result of taking the course.
Requirements: Must have valid NYS Drivers License and Motorcycle Permit (for NY Residents to redeem NYS DMV Road Test Waiver). **Permit test may be taken after course completion, at the time of Road Test Waiver redemption.**
Must be 16 years of age or older (parental permission required for ages 16/17).Junior operators must have had a valid motorcycle learner permit for a minimum of six months before road test waiver can be redeemed. Must be able to ride a bicycle.

1st Day: 6:30pm - 9:30pm
2nd Day: 7:30am - 4:30pm
3rd Day: 7:30am - 1:00pm

2-Day Basic RiderCourse
1st Day: 7:30am - 6:00pm
2nd Day: 7:30am - 6:00pm

Basic RiderCourse Highlights
The course includes five hours of classroom instruction and ten hours of riding experience in a controlled environment under the supervision of an MSF-certified RiderCoach. This 5-minute video will give you a feel for what you will experience as a student in the Basic RiderCourse training program.
