MSF Basic RiderCourse
Get trained, get licensed. The FAST TRACK to motorcycle licensing!This 2-day course helps students learn skills such as straight-line riding, shifting, turning, swerving and stopping (including making quick stops). After successfully learning these essential skills, you can earn the DMV Road Test Waiver card which can be redeemed for a motorcycle license!

Requirements: | Course Requirements: Note: The New York DMV only accepts a NY Driver's License. Tuition is forfeited without proper documentation so please confirm regulations. *If you are a Junior Operator License holder, you cannot take this course. You must be 18 years of age or older to take the course. *If you have an Out-of-State License, please confirm that the state which issued your license will accept New York State waiver cards. We don't want you to take the course if you won't be able to ride a motorcycle in your state! *If you have an international driver license, you are able to learn how to ride a motorcycle in our Basic RiderCourse. However, the NYS DMV will not provide an M endorsement unless you have a New York State Driver's License! Motorcycle Safety School is only providing the motorcycle education. International Licenses are not valid for the Basic RiderCourse 2-License Waiver. DMV Waiver Card Redemption Requirements: After successful course completion, graduates present the following valid documents to receive the M-motorcycle endorsement on their New York State Driver's License: *Please note that you can take the test to receive the motorcycle permit after you have completed the Basic RiderCourse with MSS. You can take the permit test on the same day that you are looking to turn in all the documents to the DMV, but make sure you take the permit test first! |

Schedule: | This course includes a 3-hour online eCourse that must be completed at home and will be sent to you within 30 days of your course start date. The 15 hours of training at an MSS site will take place over two days. Depending on the class that you choose, you will either be at the site from 7:30AM to 5:00PM or from 8:30AM to 6:00PM. You will be able to see the times for the class you are considering before completing the registration process. |
Basic RiderCourse Highlights
The course includes five hours of classroom instruction and ten hours of riding experience in a controlled environment under the supervision of an MSF-certified RiderCoach. This 5-minute video will give you a feel for what you will experience as a student in the Basic RiderCourse training program.
